For Christmas Antonia gave me a voucher for a Nissan GT-R experience at Silverstone (not far from us). As well as getting to drive a GT-R (one of my favourite cars) and having a great time I also got a chance to take a few photos. Unfortunately by the time I had finished and could actually explore the track was empty, but while I was waiting between my sessions I managed to get some shots from the roof of the building we were in.
It was a bit far away even for my 70-200mm, so this is a little cropped, but it came out really well. The trick for getting a moving subject sharp like this is to track it as you take the shots, but my only experience with following a subject is when I went and took photos of some birds in flight, so I’m pleased with the result here. I wanted to avoid freezing the entire shot so I chose a reasonably low shutter speed and I really like how the wheels came out, you definitely get a feel for the car’s (a Ferrari 360 F1 Modena, if you’re wondering) speed I think.
Lens: 70-200mm f/4 L IS
Focal length: 200mm
Shutter speed: 1/200
Flash: Did not fire.
